Museums and Galleries in Belfast

The Ulster Museum being the biggest museum which is located inside the lovely Botanic Gardens beside the Queens University. This place is huge and is brimming full of all sorts of brilliant treasures. All age groups have something to see here. With the likes of coins, and artefacts which were found at the bottom of the ocean that once belonged to the Spanish Armada, the Museum has three floors of treasure, along with an art gallery which is renowned as having one of the best collections of Irish Art in the entire Island.

There are also many small exhibitions and galleries located in and around the University. The Fenderesky Gallery as well as the Bell Gallery are popular, and not forgetting the Ormeau Baths Gallery which is a more modern art Gallery. The building was the old site of the public baths building and now it houses collections of Art from artists such as Gilbert and George, Yoko Ono and many more.

There is a heritage Ulster Museum only about 10 minutes from the city. This Ulster Folk and Transport Museum has the largest collection of old Transport vehicles in the country as well as a reconstructed old style village from the 1850s.
