is considered the Golden Mile. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants
are in ample supply in this area. The Grand Opera House and the splendid
Crown Liquor Saloon which is actually owned by the National Trust.
Obviously they considered this drinking emporium to be of great National
importance. The Europa hotel is also located on this stretch and
is reputed to be the most bombed hotel in all of Europe. It is now
looking splendid and is Northern Irelands largest hotel.
Queens University is bustling full of the youthful generation who
fill the local pubs and clubs in the area. This is considered the
most attractive area of the city. The grounds of the university
are spectacular and next door are the Botanic Gardens where you
can catch some peace or have a nice picnic.
The Ulster museum is located here which has dinosaur exhibits,
and is worth a look. The Stranmillis village is not too far away
from here and has lots of shops, restaurants and cafes and is worth
a walk to spend lunch here in its peaceful surroundings.
